Initial Oral Examination
Your initial oral examination includes a visual examination, charting, periodontal probing, diagnosis and treatment recommendations. We will also take x-rays, which includes the panoramic x-ray for proper diagnosis of the anterior (front) and posterior (back) teeth as well as the bite-wing x-ray series for proper diagnosis of proximal decay of posterior teeth.

Implants
Implants are synthetic structures that are placed in the area of the tooth normally occupied by the root. Implants will fuse to the bone and act as a foundation for an artificial tooth or permanent bridge. In some cases, implants can be used to attach dentures.

Facilities and Equipment
At Dove Canyon Dental, our services are designed to make you feel relaxed and at ease during your visit with us. We use the latest technology backed by our extensive continuing education training to ensure your treatment is as comfortable as possible.

State-of-the-Art Sterilization Procedures
At Dove Canyon Dental your health and comfort are always our primary concern; therefore, we follow the guidelines of both the Center for Disease Control and the National Institute of Health. Our staff also continually reviews updates on infection control materials and techniques. After each patient's visit, the treatment area is thoroughly disinfected and disposable barriers are changed. We ultrasonically clean and heat sterilize all non-disposable instruments using an autoclave, a device that kills bacteria and viruses by steam under pressure. We also use an independent commercial monitoring service to insure proper maintenance of sterilizing equipment.

Intra-oral Photography
In addition to x-rays, intra-oral cameras can be used as part of our examination; it provides magnified detail of conditions not visible with the naked eye. Intra-oral cameras are instrumental for documenting a patient's existing conditions. These images are then used to help educate patients on needed treatments and general hygiene issues.

Analgesics
For those patients who are extremely anxious about dental treatment we offer nitrous oxide analgesia.. It has a calming effect, relieves anxiety and makes the experience enjoyable. There are no lasting effects from the nitrous; within minutes after coming off the gas, all your senses return to normal.

We can also offer oral sedation for the extremely nervous patient through the use of Benzodiazapine medication such as; Valium and Halcion. Some patients may even require "deep sedation" with these drugs, or through IV sedation, where the patient can "sleep." Some of these sedation techniques would require an anesthesiologist who can be scheduled to come to the office for an additional fee. Any patients considering sedation need a pre-op consult and a driver before and after their appointments.

Relaxation
Our office also offers massage chairs in all of our operatories so you will feel more relaxed during your appointments. For your convenience we also offer headphones for TV, or CD's if desired.
